MACRO VIEW

The test had few easy questions, maximum moderate ones and considerable number of difficult ones. The English section was moderately complex and was dominated by a comparatively tough Reading Comprehension segment. Scoring in Verbal Ability was easy. The LR & DI section was biased towards Logical Reasoning. Questions from DI were more complex than the questions from LR The Mathematics section was moderately complex and was, interestingly, it was dominated by Basic Algebra.

ENGLISH

Reading Comprehension

The first passage was a "Poem" and required a thorough understanding to answer the questions correctly. It would have been wise to answer this passage with extreme caution.

The second passage on "Conventional Wisdom" was not too lucid. It comprised Inference Based Questions, Application Based Question and Tone and Style based questions. Mental Gymnasium, if done regularly as per dictum, would have come to the rescue in such a situation.

The third passage on "Modern Economics" was again not very easy to understand. The length and usage of tough lexicon added to its complexity. Again, Mental Gymnasium and Reading Tests would have served as the lifeboats.

The fourth passage on “Plain Speaking” was relatively easy and could have been answered with ease. There were Inference Based Questions and Specific Detail Questions. The presence of direct questions made it a smooth sail.

The fifth passage on “Bernie Madoff” was a moderate passage comprising three questions. It also should have been attempted accurately.

Verbal Ability

Verbal Ability segment was like a low hanging fruit demanding a high VA score from you. Grammar, Critical Reasoning, Text Completion and Summary were comparatively easy. The Parajumble questions needed deliberation, but they were doable.

LR & DI

Q 25 to Q 27 : The block on Dishes and Delegates was the first block of this test. It was a taxing, a lengthy, and an onerous block based on Circular Arrangement. It required good investment of time and should have been attempted after proper thinking.

Q 28 to Q 30 : The block on ERP was an arduous one. The pie chart was comprehensible but the bar graph might have been a little indiscernible. Hence, this block should have been done with undiluted focus.

Q 31 to Q 33 : The block on colleges and their placement was an extensive block, requiring huge amount of time and energy investment. Time permitting, one could have tried to attend this block at the end.

Q 34 to Q 36 : The block on four married couples was a Grid-based Reasoning block. Following the format taught in class, this became a lollipop. Hence, it was a must-do.

Q 37 to Q 39 : The block on students and the number of right answers was a moderate block and was another must-do block.

Q 40 & Q 41 : The block on Berries was a simple block and one should have taken about two minutes to answer it. It was one of the must-do blocks.

Q 42 to Q 44 : This block on cars was yet another Grid-based Reasoning block and using the format taught in class it could have been answered comfortably. Since, there were a few conditions available, this block could have been kept on hold and time permitting could have been answered at the end.

Basic Algebra dominated this section and was closely followed by Geometry Family.

Geometry Family questions were moderate, and so were Arithmetic ones. Number System was comparatively easy. Basic Algebra was more conceptual including sums on Quadratic, Linear Equations, and Inequalities.

Overall complexity of the section remained moderate given that few easy and considerable difficult questions were present.

With this we wind-up the analysis for this test.
