Let us dig deep into this test and garner the learnings this test had to offer.

MACRO VIEW

The paper was moderately complex. The English section was dominated by Reading Comprehension. Verbal Ability comprised a lot of ‘Otherwise’ questions making this segment tricky. The LR & DI section was comparatively complex. This section was a balance of LR & DI. LOC and Number System were of immense help to get past this section. The Mathematics section was of moderate complexity. Various shortcuts taught in class would have helped to save substantial time.

Reading Comprehension

The first passage on a “Psychiatric” was a lengthy but a simple passage. It had both Inference type and Specific Detail Questions. All questions could be answered if one had the requisite reading skills. The better the comprehensibility, the faster the questions could have been answered.

The second passage on “Jawaharlal Nehru and Indian History” was another simple passage. There were Specific Detail Questions and Inference Based Question. One detailed reading would have been enough to roll out 12 marks.

The third passage on “Environment” was terse but difficult. It comprised a Central Idea Question, an Inference Based Question and two Application Based Questions. This passage should have been attempted after deliberation.

The fourth passage on “Race” was moderately complex.  It comprised SDQs, a Central Idea Question and an Inference Based Question. All of them were doable.

Verbal Ability

Verbal Ability had quite a few ‘Otherwise’ questions that made this segment relatively difficult, but anyone whose concepts were Crystal Clear would not have faced much difficulty. Parajumble questions were complex, Text Completion questions were moderate. There were two summary questions, out these one was easy to answer and the another needed some deliberation.

LR & DI

Q 25 to Q 29 : This DI block was an easy one. This was a must-do block. Within 5 minutes one could have got a plus 15.

Q 30 to Q 33 : This LR block was moderately complex. It required good grasp over Number System and Set Theory. This block could have been attempted, but should not have started with it.

Q 34 to Q 37 : This was a very tricky DI block. It should have been attempted after proper deliberation.

Q 38 to Q 41 : This block was quite complex. But, with focus and proper approach it could have been attempted.

Q 42 to Q 46 : This LR block was a moderately complex and could have been attempted with about 10 minutes of time investment.

There was a good spread of questions from various topics. Geometry and Number System questions were purely conceptual, so mastering the requisite concepts was imperative. Basic Algebra had a few simple questions that could have been answered with ease.

That brings us to the end of this analysis.
