Laboratory Test - 10 : Analysis

TCC-25 : CAT-25
Laboratory Test - 10  :  GiveUp (?!)

Give up is for the lesser mortals.
For true humans it is never an option.

MACRO VIEW

The test was lengthy and painful to say the least.
It was an acid test of the examinee’s skills and attitude.
At every moment the examinee would feel like giving up.
The challenge was to have a never-give-up attitude.
Ironically, the questions were not that difficult. There were many questions of moderate complexity.
Yes, easy questions were very few and far between primarily because of the length.
The Mathematics section, once more, opening the paper would have rocked many a mind-set. That was, of course, the objective. ‘The TCC Journey’ will necessarily take care of all possible scenarios.
The Mathematics section could have been managed well given regular practice and constant revision.
The LR & DI section was a different ball game altogether. It introduced you to a different possibility of the pattern in which questions might appear.
The English section was fairly divided between Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability. Reading Comprehension was lengthy and gruelling to provide you the requisite exposure.

Number System and Arithmetic ruled the roost as far as this section was concerned. Majority of the questions from these topics were doable. The ‘Thinking Tenure’, if mastered, was also easily manageable.

LR & DI

This section gave a jolt. There were no block questions. Perseverance was the key. Unflinching focus was sacrosanct.
‘TCC Esspecial’ language mode further acted as speed breakers.
The only solace was that there were no ‘Otherwise’ questions in this section, but hardly a solace.

One was exposed to a variety of topics including but not restricted to
Circular and Linear Arrangement, Routes and Network, Blood Relations, Coding and Decoding, Arithmetical Reasoning, Grid- and Games-based Reasoning.
As always said, one should be prepared for the worst-case scenario.

The must-do questions are as follows -
24, 26, 31, 33, 36, 38, 39 and 42.

Reading Comprehension

Excellent Reading Skills, as per POAs, was the only way one could have emerged unscathed from this section.

The first passage on ‘History of Heterodoxy’ was not only lengthy but also impenetrable. It was a mix of Inferential and Style-based questions. ‘Special’ Reading Tests would have helped immensely.

The second passage on ‘Fascism in India’ was of moderate complexity questions. Though the passage was extensive, yet with unflinching focus and thorough understanding of the passage it could have been successfully attempted.

The third passage was an ‘Extract from a novel’. It was a complex passage.
Question styles - Style-based and Inference-based - added to the complexity.

Verbal Ability

Unconventionally, this segment comprised questions from only two topics, viz., Grammar and Critical Reasoning. Both Grammar and Critical Reasoning were moderately complex and were doable. This segment presented a good opportunity to take away the 30 marks that were on offer.

With this we conclude the analysis for this test.
I hope you enjoyed taking the test as much as I enjoyed creating it and bringing it to you.
As proclaimed and insisted relentlessly, the only shortcut to success is
PPC.

Do adhere to POAs to a T.

Our support and best wishes, always.
