MACRO VIEW

The test was moderately complex. The English section was dominated by a moderate Reading Comprehension segment. Mental Gymnasium along with Reading Tests would have helped to perform decently in this section. The LR & DI section was a mix of easy and moderate questions with a few difficult ones. Three out of four blocks were doable. The Mathematics section was relatively moderate and was dominated by Arithmetic and Basic Algebra.
 

MICRO VIEW

English

Reading Comprehension

The first passage on ‘Stoicism’ was easy to comprehend followed by moderately complex questions comprising an Inference-based question, an Assumption-based question and an Implied Idea question. It could have been attempted.

The second passage on ‘The Critical Theory of Technology’ was difficult. There were two Inference-based questions, one SDQ, and one Central Idea question. It could have been attempted if Mental Gymnasium dictum was followed to a T.

The third passage on ‘Stories Concerning the Undead’ was simple. One detailed reading would have been enough to roll out 12 marks. It was a must-do passage.

The fourth passage on ‘Chinese Concepts of a Copy’ was another simple passage. There were two application-based questions, an inference-based question and a specific-detail question. All of them were doable.
 

Verbal Ability

Summary and Parajumble questions were relatively easy. All the summary questions were doable and two question from Parajumble could have been easily managed if one had practiced well. Text completion questions were moderately complex but could have been managed if the concepts were crystal clear.
 

LR & DI

Q 25 to Q 29 : The block on a hockey team of four women players was an easy one and could have been answered in about six to seven minutes.

Q 30 to Q 34 : The block on graduating students planning a get-together was tricky to understand. However, it could have been solved in about 10-12 minutes.

Q 35 to Q 39 : The block on Interviewers and tokens was a simple block. One would have easily scored plus fifteen marks in a span of seven minutes if basic number system concepts were mastered.

Q 40 to Q 44 : The block on metro lines in a city was an onerous one. It required good investment of time. It should have been attempted at the end, if time permitted.

This section was dominated by Arithmetic, closely followed by Basic Algebra. Mastering classes was a necessity to reach the desired goal as far as this section is concerned.
